Competition Rules
& Regulations

Auditions are due by January 15th! Finalists will be selected shortly after.

General Rules & Regulations
  • Performers are permitted to watch the show, however they must purchase a ticket to enter the auditorium space. 

  • Performers are responsible to ensure they are backstage in time for their act. We recommend checking in with the stage manager 3 acts before your own. 

  • All performers must be in attendance for the awards presentation.

  • Photography and Videography of any act is strictly prohibited and may result in disqualification. Professional Videos & Photos are available for purchase by contestants.

  • Kitchissippi Productions Inc retains the authority to change the event's location or date in the event of unforeseen circumstances. We also maintain the prerogative to cancel the competition if an insufficient number of entries are received or if an insufficient number of tickets are sold. No compensation will be provided to participants should the event be cancelled or changed. 

  • Performers are responsible for arranging their own transportation to/from the venue.

  • Substances which alter the condition of the stage for other competitors are prohibited (e.g. tossing sparkles, baby powder, water/liquid, body paint, etc.). If it cannot be easily swept off the stage, it should not be put on the stage.

  • Dangerous props such as live animals and/or any routines which contain fire or pyrotechnic devices, guns, explosives, swords and/or knives etc. are also prohibited. Special circumstances may apply, please contact us for an exception to this rule. 

  • Kitchissippi Productions Inc. holds the discretion to modify the competition rules at any given time and for any reason.

  • Participants grant Kitchissippi Productions Inc the right to use their image, likeness, actions, and statements in any live or recorded audio, video, or photographic display or other transmission, exhibition, publication, or reproduction made of, or at, the Event in any medium or context for commercial or promotional purposes without further authorization or compensation.

  • Participants agree to release, indemnify, and hold harmless Kitchissippi Productions Inc, its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, agents, and sponsors from any and all claims, demands, or causes of action that are in any way connected with their participation in the Event, or any related activities, including any such claims which allege negligent acts or omissions of Kitchissippi Productions Inc. 

Music Upload & Technical Requirements
  • All backing tracks/music files are required to be submitted in MP3 format at least 3 weeks prior to the competition. Upload instructions will be provided to participants. 

  • We will provide the following to any acts that require them: Up to 3 DI boxes and patch cords, Up to 2 handheld wireless microphones. No other technical items are available from Kitchissippi Productions.

  • Any additional equipment must be provided by the contestants at their own expense and our production team must be made aware. 

  • Audio mixing is to be done by our technical team.

  • No special stage lighting is available for any contestants. 

  • Special monitor mixes are not available for any acts. 

Scoring System

Judges will score each act using the following scoring system:

Artistry, Creativity & Originality — 25%
Performance & Entertainment Value — 25%
Execution & Technique — 25%
Costuming & Apperance — 25%

Awards

Overall Awards:

  • 1st Place — $500 Cash Prize

  • 2nd Place — $200 Cash Prize

  • 3rd Place — $100 Cash Prize

Discipline Awards:

  • Top Dance — $100 Cash Prize

  • Top Music — $100 Cash Prize

Top Scoring Division Awards:

  • Top Score - Costuming & Apperance 

  • Top Score - Performance & Entertainment Value

  • Top Score - Execution & Technique

  • Top Score - Artistry, Creativity & Originality

Time Limits

If an act goes over the time limits, their score will automatically be reduced by 4%. If the act runs more than 1 minute over, they will be 'adjudicated only' and will not be eligible for any discipline or overall awards.

1-9 Person Acts — 5 Minutes Maximum
10+ Person Acts — 8 Minutes Maximum


All acts have a maximum of 2 minutes to set up the stage for their act.
